Chinese Price list

You want to see how easily a greedy dentist can rip you off? Have a look at this 2013 price list from one Chinese lab (there are hundreds more just like this one), and you’ll see crowns from just $25. Thousands upon thousands of dentists (perhaps yours too) are secretly buying these crowns behind their patients’ backs…while charging their poor victims (I mean, patients) $2,000, and often even more.

This rampant profiteering greed is an absolute disgrace…and the fact that the Australian Dental Association (ADA) says nothing to dentists to stop doing it, or to the public to inform (or even better, warn) the public about it, goes to show you exactly who it is that the ADA really seems to care about. And it is definitely NOT you, that’s for sure.

Ring the ADA on +61 2 9906 4412 (don’t email because they’ll just delete it), be angry, and register your strongest possible complaint. Get your friends to ring too, because this appalling greed MUST be stopped. If it’s not, then it is YOU (and your kids) who will be paying the costs, and suffering the terrible consequences for a very long time to come.

The very best way to find a decent and honest dentist that will not secretly sell you these Chinese crowns is……talk to the technicians (in your area) and ask them to help you find one. You can also ring a group called OHPA (02 8006 1916) that is full of Aussie technicians – or, perhaps you may wish to visit, where you will see a list of Aussie dentists you should consider contacting.

Like the Title says – Here is one way greed-driven dentists are ripping you off, but it’s far from the only way. More to come later about this, so stay tuned.

Good luck, and please email or blog for more information.

Thanks for somme other magnificent post. Where else may just anybody get that kind of information in such a perfect manner of writing?
I’ve a presentation subsequent week, and I’m on the search for such info.

    1. admin Post author

      Hi Josephine,
Thank you for your interest in, and for taking your time to write to me.

You’re correct, there is nowhere else you can find the type of dental information I am providing. That’s because the vast majority of dentists do not want you to know all their secrets.

As you’re no doubt aware, when you go to a dentist you are completely dis-empowered – you just sit in their chair and must leave everything to the dentist. Sadly, all too often (but not always), they will do things in their best interests rather than yours. Ever heard of dental over-servicing…I bet you have. If you want, read about some atrocious over-servicing in OPEN WIDE – What your dentist won’t tell you. You’ll shake your head in disgust at, not only the over-servicing, but how they’re allowed to get away with it.

People generally are now well informed about many issues, but not with dentistry – so now is the time to rectify that; and I am doing my best to assist in real positive and beneficial change in the best interests of individual patients, and the broader public.

Please feel free to contact me again any time should you require any further help…I’m here for you.

      All the best

Hi there! I realize this is somewhat off-topic but I needed
to ask. Does managing a well-established website such as yours take a large amount
of work? I’m completely new to blogging however I do write
in my journal everyday. I’d like to start a blog so I can easily share my personal experience and feelings online.
Please let me know if you have any kind of recommendations or tips for brand new aspiring bloggers.

    1. admin Post author

Sorry for the delay in responding, I’ve had a few days off from the computer.

Managing the website doesn’t really take too much work – setting it up was far more difficult, and expensive. In truth, I have been so busy lately I haven’t blogged much, nor even Facebooked.

I must say that I find it fun going in to the admin section of the site and updating (say, testimonials) and reviewing things generally from time to time. My attitudes to what I have previously written is the same now as it was when I first wrote them, but sometimes I like to upgrade the way I say those words.

I think it’s always good to understand a bit about how to run the admin section (learn that from the techos who set it up it for you), but it’s also great to be able to call on them for help later on. A note on that…when a techo shows you how to do something in admin, it always looks really easy. There’s usually only a few steps and you’ll think you’ll remember it for when you need it next time. But the chances are you won’t – at least, that’s what happened to me. I suggest you write the steps down so you have them ready when next you need them. That really helps.

I’m sorry, that’s about as much as I know that may be of assistance to you.

Many thanks for even bothering to go onto and speaking with me. Much appreciated, and any time.

      Best regards

I do accept as true with all tthe ideas you’ve offered
for your post. They are really convincing and will definitely work.
Nonetheless, the posts are too brief for newbies. Could you please extend them a bit
from subsequent time? Thank you for the post.

Thanks very much for your interest in OPEN WIDE – What your dentist won’t tell you and for visiting

I’m more than happy to provide you with as much good dental information as possible. The issue (from my dental perspective) is what people actually want to know. Dentistry is a very closed, and also a very taboo topic. Few people speak of it in their daily lives, and when they do, it is usually with fear. As you know, most people have absolutely no idea about anything ‘teeth related’… which means they are forced to leave everything to the dentist. And that means they do not know the right questions to ask.

Sometimes that is fine – if they’re lucky enough to actually find a genuinely good dentist – but the truth is they are much much rarer than what people realise. For everybody else who believes they have a good dentist but don’t realise they don’t (because of the lack of information), leaving it all to that dentist can mean dental disaster for the patient.

Anything you’d like to know, please ask. If I cannot give you a good enough answer on any given topic, I’ll suggest someone else who may know more.

      Hope this is OK.

Perhaps we’ll speak again, anytime at all is fine for me.

Again, thanks for taking the time to write to me.

      Best regards

  4. Kristopher Lowthorp

I just want to tell you that I am beginner to weblog and honestly loved your website. Probably I’m going to bookmark your site . You certainly come with outstanding writings. Kudos for sharing your web-site.

    1. admin Post author

      Hi Kristopher,
Thank you for visiting….and for taking the time to write to me.

Thank also for your encouraging words.

Dentistry is a very feared and taboo subject….and it is interesting that recently I was chatting with friends and I said to them that people are most happy to tell others about the things they do – such as they saw a good movie, went to a good restaurant, or even if they want to see their (medical) doctor.

But no one ever says they went to their dentist, it’s like they’re embarrassed or something. My friends were amazed at the simple truth of this comment.

So I have set about doing my utmost to change that perception – and also to help people find a decent, honest and ethical dentist rather than end up being financially (and sometimes physically) devoured by the greed that has now engulfed the dental ‘profession’. Sadly, dentistry is hardly ‘professional’ anymore – it’s far more just a commercial money-making enterprise.

Happily, there are still some really great dental teams out there….you just have to know how to find them. Do that by forgetting the dentists completely and go directly to the technicians. That’s because technicians know the two most important, but hidden, things of all about dentists – and they are the individual dentist’s attitude to their patients (professional oral health care, or the dentist’s own financial health care), and also their dexterity (their physical ability to display consistently high standards of clinical excellence). One always goes with the other.

Again, many thanks for taking your time to write to me. Much appreciated.

All the best, and please do not hesitate to contact me should you have further queries.

    1. admin Post author

Yeah…teeth are close to the heart. Even closer than you think. There is no doubt now that gum disease is closely related to heart disease, and that’s because bacteria that causes gum disease enters the body affecting the heart. I am not exaggerating, it is the truth. Brushing your teeth is important, but flossing even more so – because that’s the only way to properly prevent oral bacteria entering your blood stream via your mouth.

    1. admin Post author

Very few people can write with knowledge and authority about teeth and dentistry. Those people inside the dental industry who can and should write about it are too scared to because the dentists will nail their hides to the wall. Such is the threat and intimidation hiding inside this industry. But I am NOT afraid, and so i will continue to blog
Stay tuned for more in 2014

Hey There. I found your blog using msn. This is an extremely well written article. I’ll make sure to bookmark it and return to read more of your useful information. Thanks for the post. I will definitely return.

    1. admin Post author

Yeah, here’s more info you must know. NEVER automatically trust any dentist to do the best for you – because most of them only want to do the best for themselves! If, or when, you need a dentist, the very first thing you must do is go to a good technician. Find a good technician and you will find a good dentist.

Have you ever considered about including a little bit more than just your articles? I mean, what you say is fundamental and all. However think about if you added some great pictures or video clips to give your posts more, “pop”! Your content is excellent but with images and videos, this site could undeniably be one of the most beneficial in its field. Good blog!

    1. admin Post author

Yeah…I’ve been thinking about videos and they are a good idea. Sadly the professionally made ones are expensive, so all in good time.

    1. admin Post author

I love fruit and FRESH fruit juice. But beware, fresh fruit juice is highly concentrated in natural sugars. That is fine because it’s processed sugar that’s the real health danger – but, make sure your readers (especially those with infants or young kids) understand that it is vital to rinse the teeth with a bit of water after drinking juice. This is ESPECIALLY important if they have a dry mouth due to, say, sport….when sugars left on dry teeth can represent real danger; particularly if it’s done over and over again.

  26. Family Lawyer

With having so much content do you ever run into any issues of plagorism or copyright infringement? My site has a lot of unique content I’ve either created
myself or outsourced but it looks like a lot of it is popping it up all over the internet without my permission. Do you know any techniques to help prevent content from being ripped off?
    I’d definitely appreciate it.

    1. admin Post author

With the internet the way it is now, I doubt that anyone can properly protect their intellectual property rights – and even if you try to enforce your rights it becomes so expensive that only the super rich can afford it. Perhaps the difference between you and me is that the information I give is for everyone’s benefit even though it comes from a specialist like me. You’re in law, so must best advice to you is to seek good advice from a competent colleague. Be very careful of the incompetent ones……just like dentists, there are plenty of those sorts out there.

  27. therapy center

Do you mind if I quote a couple of your posts as long as I provide credit and sources back to your weblog? My website is in the very same niche as yours and my users would truly benefit from some of the information you present here. Please let me know if this alright with you. Cheers!
